Living Well … Loving Well

Living Well & Loving Well

The Secret to Having It All is Loving It All

God gave us the gift of life; it is up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well. Voltaire

To me, living well means to be healthy physically, spiritually, and emotionally. To accomplish just one of those aspects at a time is great, but to have all three at the same time must be divine.  It is rare when we get the experience of physical, spiritual, and emotional health all together.

We love…we laugh…we learn. We give…we take…we share. We break…we mend…we heal…we forgive and forget. And that is what living well is all about.

ZEST NOW: My One Year Health Challenge

I am chronicling my One Year Health Challenge at Zest Now, a website for women over 50 and beyond. Please follow along as I sweat to the oldies…or simply BE a sweaty oldie.

This may not be pretty…

I’m finally serious about my health. I’ve spent the last few years…lets just say 25 years or so…kind of breezing along, expecting my body to respond appropriately, even when I didn’t take care of it.

I can no longer ignore the health challenges I face. This is the year I have to take care of myself. And by taking care of myself, I DO NOT mean eating comfort foods and relaxing.

That’s what I’ve been doing…and it’s not exactly working for me.

I DO MEAN that I will eat properly, strengthen my muscles, lower my triglycerides and sugar levels, lower my blood pressure, stop my tummy from hurting, and just generally get in shape.

I am making this My Year. The year of the One Year Health Challenge. I expect to be triumphant. 🙂

Here’s my progress so far:

I start My Year…I had an epiphany on my 59th Birthday: I’m fat and unhealthy and I have to do something about it. Well, hell.

I’m not totally giving up BlueBelle Ice Cream, but I’m willing to compromise. I choose a Common Sense Diet.

I like few forms of exercise: Here’s my exercise plan.

My 6 month progress update…Or…all I lost was 6 months…
